SUBJECT: RE: Regarding Academy Mentor and former footballer, Tomer Hemed, from 759 concerned BHAFC supporters and citizens

Dear Seagulls Against Apartheid

Thank you for the detailed email you sent to a number of our staff and directors, and the time you have taken to detail the many points raised. I note we have also received your letter and documents by recorded delivery today.

As a club, we fully appreciate that the comments you refer to have caused concern, and while we appreciate and understand your position, we do not entirely agree with all the points you raise.

For background, the matter has been referred to and dealt with by the club, Kick it Out, The Football Association and police, each forming their own separate conclusion, with none seeing the need for any sanction or punishment.

Our own approach included input from the Sussex Police, Kick It Out, The Football Association, Premier League and other experts in language and discrimination.

We would highlight that no criminal offence has taken place, nor have FA rules brought any charges.

In light of the above, we will not be publicly commenting in any way – as this is an internal staffing issue – but please be reassured that we take our fight against discrimination very seriously, and all staff are fully aware of their responsibilities in this area and the need for awareness around certain language.

We consider this matter closed, and we will not be commenting further, and would hope that others will now consider the same approach.

Many thanks for your support, and feedback.

Best

The Supporter Services Team
